Our History
In 2010, 2x Super Bowl Champion and Ravens “Ring of Honor” inductee, Matt Stover, formally met philanthropy expert, Seth McDonnell, in a preschool parking lot. Matt and Seth connected instantly, sharing their passions for community impact and a mutual understanding of what it took to manage a nonprofit. Recognizing the unique obstacles athletes faced seeking support and direction in their philanthropic endeavors, Matt and Seth united around a common purpose and desire to create a solution.
Drawing on Matt’s NFL experience and network, complemented by Seth’s expertise, they took an opportunity to address the need firsthand. The duo partnered to help athletes avoid confusion around IRS compliance and maintain a clean philanthropic reputation. Since then, PPF has built trust and standing relationships with community organizations, financial advisors, and everyone in between, to establish a place where more than 650 charitable projects, supported by philanthropic individuals and organizations worldwide, call home.
PPF initially made its mark by supporting NFL athletes through the back-office management of their Donor-Advised Funds (DAF), paving the way for a model built on trust and impact. After eight years immersed in the nuances of DAFs, the discovery of fiscal sponsorship unlocked a newfound knowledge and redefined PPF’s approach. While DAFs were an avenue to create a charitable giving platform, they came with limitations that could affect their reach and impact. Fiscal sponsorship then emerged as PPF’s preferred structure, providing not only a foundation for aspiring philanthropists to run programs and facilitate events, but also offering vital compliance support for those with existing initiatives. This shift unlocked a transformative gateway, empowering passionate individuals to lead philanthropic movements with the structure and credibility of a public charity, without the barriers of traditional formation.
Rooted in family values, founders Matt and Seth have preserved the authenticity of a personal office, cultivating a team that is well-equipped to handle the complexities of managing fiscally sponsored projects around the world with integrity. Built to support the mission of its clients with a passion to make the world a better place, what began in 2010 as a vision to simplify and amplify charitable giving for athletes has since evolved into a global presence. PPF now reaches communities across all 50 states and 35 countries, turning purpose into impact on a growing, worldwide scale.

Carefully curating their board and staff over the years, with over 14 years in the fiscal sponsorship space and a staff with over 150 years of combined experience in the philanthropic arena, PPF is now a leading force of philanthropic knowledge and fiscal sponsorship expertise.
