PROJECT INSPIRATION

Donor Organizer Hub was born from a simple but powerful realization: when everyday people fundraise as part of their civic and community commitments, social movements don’t just raise money — they build power. Founder Haley Bash saw the transformative potential of grassroots fundraising as both a financial and relational tool for change.

She envisioned a space where volunteers and staff could learn to fundraise in ways that align with their values, strengthen community connections, and build leadership — helping movements grow deeper roots and wider reach.

MISSION & VISION

Donor Organizer Hub strengthens grassroots movements by helping people see themselves as both fundraisers and organizers. The organization trains and coaches volunteers and staff to build donor organizing programs rooted in leadership, relationship, and collective action, not just financial transactions. From membership models and giving circles to house parties and peer-to-peer campaigns,
Donor Organizer Hub helps movements pilot and grow creative approaches that move money while building people power. Their vision is a future where fundraising is not seen as transactional or intimidating, but as a relational, community-centered act of solidarity that fuels both the resources and the leadership needed to sustain powerful social change.

CHOOSING PPF AS A FISCAL SPONSOR

Haley chose Players Philanthropy Fund (PPF) because its mission — to provide transparent, efficient, and expert fiscal sponsorship — allows Donor Organizer Hub to focus on what it does best: organizing people and resources to strengthen movements.

"With PPF handling the financial and administrative backbone, we can stay centered on developing values-driven fundraising strategies, building partnerships, and supporting grassroots fundraisers across the country.”

LAUNCHING THE MISSION

To bring Donor Organizer Hub to life, Haley began by listening: holding countless conversations with fundraisers, volunteers, and organizers to understand their challenges and aspirations. The project’s first milestone was the “From Caring to Doing” pilot training, a hands-on workshop for new volunteer fundraisers.

Haley also wrote a 40+ page vision document to clarify the project’s purpose and direction. Her biggest personal challenge early on was overcoming imposter syndrome and helping others move beyond the fear that fundraising was only for the wealthy or experienced.

Her breakthrough came when she saw participants she coached start their own campaigns, form volunteer teams, and reach their goals — proof that fundraising could be accessible, relational, and transformative.

PPF made it all possible. Their onboarding support and administrative management, from accepting stock and DAF donations to processing reimbursements, freed Haley to focus on program design, coaching, and community building.

PROJECT IMPACT

SHIFTING MINDSETS AND BUILDING POWER

Some of Donor Organizer Hub’s most meaningful outcomes come frombwatching people redefine their relationship to fundraising.
Participants who once viewed it as uncomfortable or transactional now see it as a form of organizing that strengthens relationships, builds leadership, and expands movements.

REAL WORLD RESULTS

  • A partner organization raised $13 million in a single year, powered by volunteers hosting house parties that doubled as organizing hubs.
  • Another group launched a membership model with over 400 dues-paying members, allowing them to fund their work year-round.
  • Individual volunteers have gone from hesitant fundraisers to confident trainers and campaign leaders, creating ripples of impact across their communities.

WORKING WITH PPF

PPF’s partnership has allowed Donor Organizer Hub to stay focused on its mission without the administrative burdens of nonprofit management. Haley also credits PPF’s consistency and responsiveness for creating a strong foundation for expansion.

"Their clear processes, supportive team, and deep experience in fiscal sponsorship have given us the confidence and capacity to prioritize what matters most — training, partnerships, and growth.”

GROWTH & EVOLUTION

Donor Organizer Hub has grown far beyond its initial pilot. The team launched a Train-the-Trainer program to scale their impact, enabling others to lead donor organizing in their own communities.

They also held their first in-person convening in Washington, DC, where more than 30 volunteer fundraisers gathered to share tools, celebrate wins, and deepen their leadership.

Even as fundraising landscapes evolve, shaped by the pandemic, politics, and digital culture, the Hub remains adaptable and grounded in its mission to move money and build community.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

GOALS FOR NEXT YEAR:

  • Expand its Train-the-Trainer program from a 10-person beta to a public offering
  • Launch a rapid response version to meet key political and movement moments
  • Support more donor organizing
pilots through targeted training and coaching
  • Continue evolving programs that help fundraisers turn giving into deeper organizing

VISION FOR CONTINUED PARTNERSHIP WITH PPF

PPF will continue to be a vital part of Donor Organizer Hub’s growth. Their reliable fiscal sponsorship provides the administrative infrastructure that allows Haley and her team to stay focused on program development, partnerships, and innovation. Knowing the backend is in expert hands means the Donor Organizer Hub team can be strategic, creative, and responsive—exactly what grassroots movements need to thrive.

ADVICE FOR CHANGEMAKERS

“Get a fiscal sponsor early. It lets you focus on what really matters: building the vision, relationships, and strategy to make your idea real. You don’t have to do everything yourself. The right partner helps you handle complexity so you can invest your energy in impact.”
